維也納的人心是良善的，那一天在聖史蒂芬大教堂（也稱聖斯德望主教座堂）裡，絡繹不絕的人潮從奧地利四面八方湧來，為的只是在這兒點上一根蠟燭、為難民祈福。

Stephansdom

聖史蒂芬大教堂坐落在老城區，首次建築於1147年的聖史蒂芬大教堂最負盛名的就是融合羅馬式、哥德式與文藝復興式的建築風格，以及用琉璃瓦拼貼而成的彩色屋頂。

教堂本身經歷多個王朝的改建，也因此產生多元化的風格，成為維也納市區的地標。13世紀時，波希米亞國王首次進行教堂的改建工程，將此處改成羅馬式風格的長方形教堂，教堂西側的大門就是那個時候所遺留下來的建築。

到了14世紀，在哈布斯堡王朝魯道夫四世的倡議下，聖史蒂芬教堂被改建成哥德式風格，教堂因此形成今日所見的風貌。教堂最醒目的建築結構－南塔(Suedturm)，徹底展現了哥德式教堂的風格。高136.7公尺的塔樓名列全球第二高的教堂尖塔，僅次於德國的柯隆大教堂。

教堂內部極盡繁複精美，包括主祭壇、皮格拉姆製作的傳教壇、描述聖母和基督一生的祭壇，都值得細細觀賞。

Fiaker

“噠噠噠…”有節奏感的馬蹄聲回蕩在老城區的小巷，姿態優美的馬車來往穿行，時光仿佛回到了幾百年前、中世紀維也納，給人一種復古懷舊的感受Stephansdom為人們所喜愛的維也納城市地標，因此教堂周邊也形成了著名的老城區。

維也納舊城區街道狹窄，縱橫交錯，兩旁多為巴洛克式、哥德式和羅馬式建築…

最重要的古典建築，都集中在圍繞舊城區寬達50米、19世紀晚期的環城大道(Ringstrasse)周邊。

遊客乘坐古典馬車點綴著巴洛克風格的街區，成為維也納一道獨特的美麗風景線。Fiaker”來源於法語詞彙“Fiacre”，它既指兩匹馬拉的小型出租馬車，又指活潑爽朗的馬車夫。幾百年前，馬車曾是維也納人最重要的交通工具，在現代交通發達的今天，馬車並沒有完全被取代，而是以其獨特的魅力，作為一種文化遺產留傳了下來。

老實說，乘坐一次這樣舊式馬車還是蠻有”味道”的，除了歐洲貴族的味道之外，就是馬糞的味道。

咖啡香，蛋糕味，音樂氣氛，摻合著一點馬糞的味道，這就是典型的維也納老城區空氣的味道，這也是令人莞爾卻又難忘的氣味。

跟著馬車穿越大街小巷，有新舊霍夫堡、鼠疫紀念柱、音樂之鐘、市政廳廣場、國會大廈以及最著名的商業大街—格拉本大街等。

Café Central

從1976年起，中央咖啡館就成為眾多知名作家、藝術家終日流連的場所，人們在此地討論時事、交換意見，咖啡館是由費爾斯(Ferstelat)公爵官邸改建，儘管物換星移，這裡仍保留著當時的原貌。音樂家貝多芬、舒伯特、約翰史特勞斯父子、畫家克林姆、席勒等，都曾是咖啡館的座上嘉賓。

在這裡眼明手快地搶個好位置，然後點上一杯咖啡、品茗著無數騷人墨客曾經駐足的痕跡，也許能靈光乍現也說不一定。

Peterskirche

聖彼得教堂(又名聖伯多祿教堂)是仿照梵諦岡聖彼得教堂設計，是維也納第一座圓拱型屋頂的建築。內部裝飾華麗，精緻輝煌，有「環城大道內最美麗的巴洛克式教堂」之美名，據說Sisi皇后也經常來此禱告。

除了高大的巴洛克式測道外，教堂採用偽眼法的頂棚繪畫，帶來了戲劇性的效果。

事實上這個教堂非常寧靜，儘管外面的道路車水馬龍，這裡卻像是心靈的休息站，小小的陰霾也許就能一掃而空。

主祭壇用了許多金屬和大理石的材料，風格明亮又堅毅，更有許多巧奪天工的雕刻。四周牆牆壁及天花板都繪有畫工細膩的聖經故事圖、顏色柔美。

不過教堂內最引人注目的藝術品，還是位於華麗鍍金講道壇對面的《St. John of Nepomuk》雕刻，出自Lorenzo Matielli之手，描述聖約翰被幾名捷克惡霸拋下(布拉格查爾士橋)的情景。

Stephansdom

With typical droll humour, the Viennese nicknamed this whopper of a Gothic cathedral Steffl (Little Stephen). Draw your gaze skywards to notice its chevron-tiled roof before heading inside to the magnificent nave and catacombs.

A pulse-quickening climb up the south tower’s 343 steps reveals knockout views of the city fading into the undulations of hills beyond.

Fiaker

More of a tourist novelty than anything else, a Fiaker is a traditional-style open carriage drawn by a pair of horses. Drivers generally speak English and point out places of interest en route. Lines of horses, carriages and bowler-hatted drivers can be found at Stephansplatz, Albertinaplatz and Heldenplatz at the Hofburg.Short tours take you through the old town, while long tours include the Ringstrasse.

The Peterskirche(Church of St Peter)

situated just north of Graben, was built in 1733 according to plans of the celebrated baroque architect Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt. Interior highlights which make a visit highly worthwhile include a fresco on the dome painted by JM Rottmayr and a golden altar depicting the martyrdom of St John of Nepomuk.

This was not the first baroque church built in Vienna (the Dominikanerkirche has that honour), nor is it considered the finest (the Karlskirche with its glass elevator to the cupola, pips it at the post), but it is one of the most attractive. Café Central

Vienna is bejewelled with coffee houses as opulent as any palace. Take Café Central, for instance, with its marble polished to a sheen, black-vested waiters and pianist bashing out tunes from 5pm. Sigmund Freud and poet Peter Altenberg once sipped coffee below this high vaulted ceiling, while Trotsky came here to plot his next move – in chess and the Russian Revolution. Admittedly it is firmly on the tourist trail, but you can't beat it for decadence and divine cakes like the chocolate-truffle Altenbergtorte.
