The Shangri-La offers no less than six restaurants, including an Italian, a very popular Chinese known for its excellent dim sum, the all day buffet Next 2 Restaurant and the classic Thai fine dining experience Salathip, directly on the river. The Upper Deck bar is a great place for a pre-dinner drink, either indoors or out, and the Chocolate Boutique in the lobby is a paradise for sugar addicts. The nightly jazz and pop is best enjoyed from a comfy stool in the Long Bar. The Shangri-La also has its very own dinner cruise ship, the Horizon, which sets sail nightly at 7.30pm with an international buffet on board.

About Executive chef Marc Cibrowius
When Chef Marc was young, the cooking profession in Germany was very popular. His mother’s expertise in cooking traditional German dishes also inspired and developed his interest in the field, further encouraging him to pursue a culinary career. At the age of 17, he started his training in butchery and then continued his education as a cook in Essen.
Having grown up in Germany, Chef Marc is accustomed to meat and sausages. However, once he started his culinary education, he discovered a love for seafood, which soon became his favourite ingredient.
After finishing his education, Chef Marc embarked on his culinary journey at prestigious places, from Europe and the Middle East to Asia, including the Michelin-starred restaurants of the Hotel Union’s Relais & Chateau. He was in charge of two restaurants at the Traube Tonbach Hotel in Baiersbronn, Germany, each of which had 16 points from the Gault Millau, one of the most influential French restaurant guides.
Not short of achievements, the humorous chef was certified with an “Educated Diploma Master Chef of Culinary” in 1995 and also became a member of the Euro Toque Chef, a union of selected executive chefs in Europe and of European chefs around the world.
Chef Marc joined the Shangri-La family in 2006 as an executive sous chef at Shangri La Hotel, Dubai. He continues to refine his skills as he moves around in the group’s properties, including Hangzhou, Qingdao, Muscat, Jakarta and now Bangkok.
